Helaman Ch16

Some Nephites are converted back to the gospel after hearing Samuel and are baptized while others throw stones and arrows that never hit Sam on the wall. Those who harden their hearts are unable to see angels and say that is is not reasonable to believe in Christ.
All the Nephites who heard and believed Samuel the Lamanites sought to be baptized by Nephi while others were angry with him and starting shooting arrows and throwing stones, but they are unsuccessful because of the Spirit of the Lord that dwells with him protects him (v1-2). The protection Samuel has from attacks converts more people and gives Nephi work to do while baptizing, prophesying, crying repentance, showing signs of Christ, and preaching to the people about remembering the Lord (v3-5). The more wicked people desired even more that Sam be bound and thrown into prison because of the power he has from God which causes him to flee from the wall and go home to continue to preach (v6-8).
That was at the end of the 86th year, so as year 87 began, there were still righteous in the land, but most the people were wicked continuing on through the 88th and 89th years (v9-12). In the 90th year, there began the signs that were prophesied and other scripture being fulfilled, but the people continued to harden their hearts against the miracles and say, "It is unreasonable that Christ shall come to earth, and even if he does come, why would he not come to us as well Jerusalem (v13-19). It is only the foolishness of our fathers that have kept us in ignorance so they can tell us what to do with evil cunning mysterious works, therefore all they have said is false" (v20-21).
They made up many more excuses and foolish imaginations to justify themselves and many rumors and contentions spread among the Nephites even though there were miracles and wondrous signs being shown to them (v22-23). Unfortunately, this is how the 90th year and the book of Helaman ends (v24-25). How exciting!! Well if you know what is coming you will be excited :D 3rd Nephi!!
