3Ne Ch8

There are terrible natural disasters all over the earth because it is grieving over the crucifixion of Christ. This causes many people to be killed and cities to be ruined while darkness is over the land of three days and the people who survive are worried about their fate.
The records that have been kept are true and we can trust that because the man who kept them is just and righteous, that being said, it has been 33 years since Christ's birth and people began to look for the sign of darkness that Samuel the Lamanites had prophesied about (v1-3). Some searched because they doubted but others because they had faith, and their searching was not in vain because in the 4th day of the year 34 there was great storm with thunder and earthquakes across the whole land (v4-7). Zarahemla was set fire, Moroni sank into the ocean, and Moronihah was destroyed in replace of a mountain, but there was more destruction all over changing the whole face of the land and breaking up roads and killing many who were stuck in more cities who had the same fate as the three mentioned (v8-18).
The storms lasted for about 3 hours and then there was darkness even to the point that no one could light fires or torches that lasted 3 days (v19-23). During these three days, the people were mourning their losses and distress from the great destruction that had happened. All over there were people saying they should have repented instead of stoning the prophets so their friends and families would have been spared (v24-25). This chapter is very scary to think about for me because I worry if the second coming will be similar in the destruction of so much, but as I study more I know that Christ's coming is a joyous thing for those who are righteous and repent so I strive to be that.
