The next section of chapters includes 11-26 and is all about Christ's ministering and visit to the people of Nephi. He is introduced by His Father and proclaims His atonement then lets everyone feel His wounded hands, feet, and side. The people cry Hosanna and Christ sets forth baptism and the doctrine that men should believe and be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost.
The people had gathered near the temple in Bountiful to show the great and marvelous chance and speak of Christ and the signs of His death which is where they heard a voice from heaven piercing them to the center and causing their hearts to burn (v1-3). The did not understand what it was saying until they opened their ears and their eyes towards heaven the third time He spoke saying "Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name--hear ye him." (v4-7). As they listened with eyes looking towards heaven, they saw a Man descending down, clothed in white, and they spoke not a word as he stretched forth his hand saying "Behold, I am Jesus Christ whom the prophets testified shall come into the world." (v8-10).
Once the multitude knew it was Christ who had suffered for the ins of the world upon Himself, they fell to the earth, but the Lord bids them to stand and come to feel of the wounds in His hands, feet, and side to know that He is the God of Israel who was slain for the sins of the world (v11-14). Every single person in the crowd went to feel and knows for a surety that He is whom it was written by the prophets, and they all had reason to cry out hosannas and worship Jesus (v15-17). At this time, Jesus spoke directly to Nephi who was in the crowd worshiping him, and as He called Nephi up to give him power to baptize when He went back to heaven, He also called others (v18-22).
He first showed the called exactly how to baptize those who repent: (1) they will go down and stand in the water, (2) call them by name then recite v25, (3) immerse them in water, (4) bring them back out (v23-26). Anyone who follows those steps will be baptized in the name of Christ and there is no arguing how to do baptisms after it is laid out so simply, honestly there's not reason to contend at all because Christ is a beacon of peace and wants zero contentions (v27-29). His doctrine is not to stir up the hearts of men, which is why he has come to set forth all that will be done in His church on earth because His doctrine is to repent and believe in Christ which will lead men to believe in the Father and inherit the kingdom of God (v30-33).
Those who are not baptized shall be damned, but Christ wants all to believe in Him and the Father and the Holy Ghost because their wills are one and their goal is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (v34-36). If we are to take advantage of the gifts of God we must repent and become as little children, being humble and teachable then be baptized in order to inherit the kingdom of God (v37-38). Anyone who believe His doctrine and preach it will have a solid foundation and prevail against the gates of hell, but those who believe or preach any less will be washed away when storms come because it will be as though their foundation is sad (v39-40).
The last verse is a commandment to any who heard the words of Christ to tell everyone the words that have been spoken and I think it is only fair that I also take that commandment upon myself (v41). I may not do much by writing a blog that is barely read by anyone, but I try everyday by writing it and sharing it to reach out to someone. My only wish is to reach just one person a day.
