Christ has spent some time with the Nephites teaching them about many different topics, but now he encourages them to ponder on all they have heard and pray for understanding. He prays for the people and it is so beautiful that some of it cannot be written, then He calls the children to be blessed by angels.
Jesus knows He must leave the multitude soon to visit the lost tribes of Israel, so He tells them that He knows they are out of practice listening to preachings from the gospel but they should ponder what He has said and pray to the Father for help understanding and preparing for tomorrow when Christ visits again (v1-4). The crowd was crying from finding out He was leaving, but Christ has so much compassion for the people He wanted to heal all afflicted in any manner before leaving (v5-8). The faith of the multitude was sufficient to have everyone be healed by Christ they worshiped Him as he made people whole and then commanded that the children be brought to Him (v9-11).
Christ gathered the children so they could be up close as He offered a prayer so powerful that it cannot be written, but there is witness statements of the marvelous things they saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father during the prayer, so much that it cannot even be conceived by man (v12-17). As the prayer ended the people arose and there was much joy as Jesus spake to them of their blessedness and faith, then he blessed each of the children and wept as He presented the little ones (v18-23). From the heavens, angels and fire came to encircle the group of children and did minister unto them, as the 2,500 in the crowd witnessed and bear record (v24-25).
