Helaman Ch15

Samuel continues to preach to the people on the topic of how the Lord shows His love to the Nephites. It should be a comforting thought that we are chastened because we are loved. It is also true that the Lord is merciful to those who repent such as the Lamanites have in those days.
Sam:
"Please repent or be left desolate and have great cause to mourn, especially since you are the chosen people of the Lord because of Nephi, ye are chastened because the Lord loves you so and wants you back (v1-3). The Lamanites were a disappointment for a long time because of their wickedness but now they been more righteous and caused the tables to turn on who is doing the work of the Lord because they have the truth (v4-7). All those who have been converted to the gospel of Christ are made free and are peaceful to the point of self sacrifice for fear of sinning against God (v8-9).
The Lamanites are blessed for their faith now and even in days to come, like the latter days, they will be restored to the knowledge of the truth after being smitten and scattered (v11-12). They will be numbered among the sheep of the Redeemer and have a second chance and shown great works which cause them to never doubt again (v13-15). The Lord will not utterly destroy them because they will turn again to the Lord in the last days of earth, but as for the blessed Nephites who have turned away from the Lord, they will be destroyed if they refuse to repent (v16-17).
