Mormon Ch1

We now enter the book in which Mormon's personal records are kept. In this first chapter, we will see war starting between the Nephites and Lamanites while the 3 Nephites are taken away because of the great wickedness in the land.
Mormon was a Nephite and taught from childhood to be righteous, and I don't know if they are related or how they are connected, but Ammaron tells him when he is only 10 to go find the records that were hidden in a hill when he is 24 (v1-3). Mormon is instructed to only take the plates of Nephi and spend time recording all he has observed in his lifetime, and so it is done and he starts with this story and how he moved with his father to Zarahemla in the same year a war started between the Nephites and Lamanites (v4-9). The war began near Zarahemla and the river Sidon when 30,000+ Nephites gathered to fight Lamanites who originally wanted probably to rule over everyone like always, but the Nephites prevailed and there was peace, yet still wickedness, for about 4 years (v10-13).
All the miracles and great works of the Lord ceased because of the unbelief, and yet Mormon still was a righteous dude so the Lord visited him when he was 15 to kind of forbid him from preaching to the people (v14-16). These people didn't need to be preached to because they knew the truth, they knew that they were willingly rebelling against the ways of the church and did it anyway, so the disciples were taken away from them (v16-17). Gadianton robbers infested the land, but a curse returned to the land to make their treasure slippery and go missing all the time, and this all fulfilled the prophecies of Abinadi and Samuel the Lamanite (v18-19).
