In this chapter, wickedness dominates the Jaredite life so when the prophets come to tell them to repent so they aren't utterly destroyed, they ignore them and reject their words.
When the prophets first came to do their prophesying unto the people about their wickedness they were rejected and fled to King Com for protection, and he listened to them and was blessed for it through his life, dying at a 'good old age' and passing the kingdom to his son, Shiblom (v1-4). Unfortunately, Shiblom's brother rebelled against him and there was war in which this no-named brother put prophets to death, and so great was this calamity in the land that there was the greatest destruction ever seen upon the face of the earth that the people were humbled and began to repent so that the mercy of the Lord was shown (v5-8). During all this, Shiblom was slain and his son, Seth, was held captive all his life only to see his son, Ahah, reign as a wicked king (v9-10).
Ethem, son of Ahah, reigned next and was also wicked even though there were more prophets sent in the land to tell the people to repent or be completely destroyed this time, but when they were rejected and saw that Ethem executed wicked judgments, they withdrew from the people (v11-14). Moron, son of Ethem, was wicked as well, and during his reign, there was a rebellion led by a mighty man in charge of that secret combination that led away half the kingdom for many years before Moron could obtain it again only to lose it completely to a descendant of the brother of Jared (v15-17). While in captivity, Moron had Coriantor, father of Ether, and someone who saw many prophets be rejected as they tell the people about repenting or else being replaced by another people to possess the land of promise (v18-23).
