Alma Ch15

After the fiasco in Ammoniah, the companionship heads to Sidom to establish a church which prospers in the land. Zeezrom shows up again and joins the church and is healed by Alma before he leaves to return to Zarahemla with Amulek.
The Lord guided Amla and Amulek to where the people who had been cast out of Ammoniah by the wicked which was called Sidom, and they told the people who had fled about what had happened to those who had stayed (v1-2). Interestingly enough, Zeezrom, after being cast out made his way there but he became sick because he blamed himself for all the wickedness that had happened and assumed he had caused the death of the missionaries (v3). As soon as he knew they survived, he asked them to visit him and was visited while he was sick wanting to be healed (v4-5).
Surprisingly enough it isn't easy to be healed when you don't have faith. Luckily for Zeezrom he believed the teachings he had once denounced and was healed by Alma through his faith which became a story told throughout Sidom (v6-11). Then Alma started to preach, baptize, and organize a church in the land with teachers and priests (v12-14). We know that the people in Ammoniah were still hard-hearted despite seeing the prison tumble to the ground and witness Alma and Amulek safely walk out (v15).
Amulek had forsaken everything he owned in Ammoniah when he left with Alma, so after they established a church in Sidom and made sure the people were humbling themselves sufficiently before the Lord, he joined Alma as he traveled back to Zarahemla (v16-18). This time it was Alma's turn to take care of Amulek and even teach him and strengthen him in the Lord to overcome the tribulations of loosing everything and witnessing some pretty bad stuff. As this chapter ends, we have the close of year 10 since judges were established as the government and quite a lot has happened. Can't wait to see what happens in the chapters to come!
